At Big Apple Comic Con this past weekend, I grabbed a free copy of the last issue of Wizard I worked on before being let go. There are two pieces in this ish that it was particularly enjoyable to write, the “Book of the Month” feature on Dark Horse’s “Conan the Cimmerian” and the “Webcomic of the Month” feature on “The ACT-I-VATE Primer.” For your reading convenience, I’m posting them here.
Please enjoy and then go check these great titles out at your local comic shop!
If I ever meet those wizard editors, I’m gonna kick them in the nuts. Don’t they realize the hunk of burning comic-love they’ve lost? Who else is going to keep it real?
All these cool magazines are laying off people because they can’t sell subscriptions– they can’t sell subscriptions because the people that bought their magazines 10 years ago grew up and they haven’t hired any new writers or changed things up to bring in a new readership.
The last Rolling Stone I saw was under 90 pages and more than half of those were ads. The rest was about linkin park or some bullshit. I don’t think people in the 60’s cared about Crosby, Stills and Nash let alone now…
What the hell, they gave you the boot? Now how are we gonna trick them into making me the chief Red Sonja review guy!?
Lol, that suxxors, but I’m sure a talented, moustached guy like yourself will find more work. But you don’t need anyone telling you that when you already know you’re hot stuff!
(And by the way, I lost interest in the Red Sonja comics, that’s why I didn’t step up to do the Kull/Sonja reviews, I don’t like the story anymore.)
