Because sometimes it saves you a few hours a day when you just post a picture worth a thousand words instead of writing them, the long neglected tumblr known as “Pizza Party!” is back.

Back from Baltimore
Hey Folks!
After a long weekend of convention-going and freelance writing, I’m back from Baltimore Comic-Con. Yep, I was down in the Charm City this past weekend enjoying a good ol’-fashioned comic book convention and getting back to my journalistic roots with some straight up reporting and writing on a tight deadline. All in all, it was a pretty great weekend, but I’ll run through some highlights quickly for those who may be interested.

Straight up pluggin’ it: “Special Edition” #1
Now, I don’t normally sit in my ivory tower of blogginess and insist you purchase things on my recommendation (aside from all these AMAZING T-SHIRTS!!!), but I must insist you grab a copy of Special Edition #1.

All Day Pizza Buffet: Fight!
Yesterday, I was informed by Josh Wigler (aka J.D. Wigglesmith aka Jarsh Wiggleheimer) that he and Kevin Mahadeo (aka Kevin Mahoodoo: Master of Voodoo) were discussing who would win in a fight: The two of them or me. The stipulations, as they were explained to me, were that Josh would be armed with a pistol and Kevin would have a knife. I would be between the two of them, unarmed. Though Wigler and Mahadeo both agreed I would win this hypothetical fight—and I provided a few fairly graphic play-by-plays of how I would triumph—I figured a cartoon representation of how mismatched a brawl it would be might further solidify the results of Monday’s discussions.

All Day Pizza Buffet: Laser Heroin
Based on something that came up in a conversation between Josh Wigler and myself, here’s an idea so kooky that it’s a wonder Grant Morrison hasn’t come up with it yet.

Thank you all!
Hey folks.
Last night, at a little before 8 p.m., I was let go from my job at Wizard Entertainment.
Since then, I have received an overwhelming amount of amazingly supportive, kind and flattering emails, Facebook messages and tweets from a ton of truly great people! Thank you all so much! I guess when the going gets tough, you really see how many wonderful people you’re surrounded with. I’m just grateful to be surrounded by so many.
Also, additional big thanks to Josh Wigler, Sean T. Collins, Mel Caylo, Kiel Phegley, all the fans over at the Wizard Universe Message Boards and the crew at Panels On Pages for voicing their support in the public forum, as well as privately.
TJ Dietsch—an extremely rad guy who was ToyFare‘s Associate Editor—was also laid off last night. Check out his blog at www.unitedmonkee.com and spread the love.
Again, thank you so much, everyone! The outpouring of support has been truly touching and has only helped my love grow for all my friends, colleagues and the comic industry as a whole. Thank you.
All Day Pizza Buffet: Noodles
Popping an EoP “cameo” in ADPB was suggested by Josh Wigler, but I came up with all the comedic comedy and did the decent drawing. F. Y. I.

San Diego Comic-Con from the sidelines
Last weekend was the massive San Diego Comic-Con. For those living under rocks in caves on the moon, SDCC is a pop culture and comic book convention of epic proportions that is chock-full of panels featuring comic pros, Hollywood stars and specially screened clips of upcoming movies—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The show floor is loaded with nearly a bajillion exhibitors, artists, creators and vendors, and after hours there are parties out the wazoo.
Or so I’ve heard.
